The Toronto Beekeepers Collective (TBC) is looking for new members in 2025!

The Toronto Beekeepers Collective (TBC) is looking for new members!

We are going into our 25th year.  We are an educational organization that looks after beehives at The Fairmont Royal York Hotel, Downsview Park, and Blackcreek Community Farms.

Typically, a member of the TBC must volunteer at least 60 hours of time per year to work in the bee yard, harvest honey, participate in community education and events, serve on TBC committees, and attend monthly meetings.  In return, our members receive opportunities to work with bees and to learn about beekeeping.  Members also receive a share of the honey harvest and are an important part of our beekeeping community.

In the off-season, we offer a variety of workshops using products from the hive.

We accept new members once a year in March/April.  Our beekeeping work typically starts in April or May, weather dependent.

We are looking for enthusiastic new members.  No beekeeping experience is required.  Our deadline for applying is Feb. 15 (our website says Jan 31, but we’ve extended the deadline).  We will then host a group orientation meeting for applicants to see if we are a good fit for each other.  We have limited space.

To read more about our requirements and find our application please visit: https://torontobeekeeping.ca/membership/

Please fill out and return the application form to torontobeekeeperscollective@gmail.com

In Loving Memory: Gita Schwartz

It is with great sorrow to share the death of one of our Toronto Beekeeping Collective members , Gita Schwartz. Gita joined the TBC in 2019 and was an engaged and very committed member who loved bees. She served on the Equipment, Education and Governance committees, and since 2023 was a member of the Board. She was a regular and enthusiastic contributor at special events at Ontario Science Centre, Downsview and at monthly and annual member meetings. She will be greatly missed!
